A team of researchers at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard; the Ragon Institute of Mass General Brigham, MIT, and Harvard; and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital have discovered that oleic acid, one of the most abundant fatty acids in the body, restores a healthy balance of vaginal microbes in a laboratory model of Bacterial Vaginosis.
I found this suppository on Amazon that has both Lactobacillus crispatus + L. gasseri studied by the researchers and the jojoba, shea butter, and coconut butter that make up the suppository all contain oleic acid. Using refined avocado oil as a lube also adds oleic acid to your vagina.
I haven’t tried this VFlora product, but I am going to. I can’t recommend it yet, but it seems like a great idea. I’ve ordered a pack from Amazon.
I make yogurt out of gasseri and crispatus probiotics. So I eat them regularly. Suppositories are a good way to get them in your vagina. If you try them, let me know your thoughts.
